Diamond is so strong, in fact, that its name comes from the
Greek word "adamas," which means “invincible” or “unbreakable.”

History
Diamonds are so ubiquitous they need no introduction. Being first traded throughout parts of India almost 2,500 years ago and were immediately coveted by the royal and wealthy. As they made their way into other parts of the world, they started making waves among Europe’s elite. The Archduke Maximillian of Austria then started a trend that would last centuries, he presented one to Mary of Burgundy as an engagement ring. |
The Fab Four
Carbon, pressure, heat and time. These are the four things needed to create diamonds. Heat: 752 degrees Fahrenheit. Pressure: 434,113 pounds per square inch. Diamonds are created 100 miles underground in the Earth's mantle over billions of years. Considering these beauties start as just pressurized Carbon they sure do come a long way! |
Treatment and Care
Being a 10 on the Mohs hardness scale makes for easy cleaning. Diamonds can be placed in ultrasonic cleaners unless it has been treated or has inclusions in which case you should use a lint free cloth or mild soap and warm water. You should regularly bring it back to have the jeweler inspect it and professionally clean it to best preserve your diamonds and other gems. |
